As in prior weeks, we observed multiple cars parked within the closure and ongoing vehicle activity in clear violation of permit conditions. These have become routine features of the closure, underscoring the lack of oversight and enforcement. In addition, every weekend of closure results in lost metered parking revenue for the City.
We are eager to see Hayes Street restored to its intended use. This has gone on far too long. Each additional week of inaction only deepens the harm to a vital business corridor and erodes trust in the City’s permitting process. The permit should be revoked and Hayes Street reopened without further delay.
