Conditions observed this past weekend raised additional questions regarding the ongoing purpose and administration of the closure. While surrounding traffic conditions remained heavy, activity within the closure area itself appeared limited and concentrated among a relatively small number of users. On Friday evening, seating arrangements also appeared to extend into the designated emergency access lane in order to accommodate a relatively small gathering near the center of the block.
During this period, members of our group also spoke with both SFPD personnel and an SFMTA parking control officer on site. Neither appeared aware of ongoing noncompliance concerns or active closure-related enforcement expectations, including recurring vendor activity and parking enforcement issues within the closure area.
At this stage, previously documented noncompliance remains ongoing and unresolved. Continued operation of this permit under these conditions raises serious questions regarding both its validity and oversight. Accordingly, consistent with our prior correspondence, we again call on the SFMTA Board to revoke Permit No. 1316522.
