Week 16 • Hayes Street Farmers Market Temporary Street Closure Permit No. 1493851

October 3, 2026
Attention SFMTA:

Street conditions for the Hayes Street Farmers Market documented here:
Saturday October 3, 2026

Week 16 again documented recurring conditions associated with the Hayes Valley Farmers Market, including market-related vehicles occupying curb and loading space on and adjacent to the commercial corridor and the continued presence of the Signature clothing vendor during farmers market operations.

The recurring use of customer parking by market-related vehicles has now reached the point that Hayes Street merchants are taking it upon themselves to leave messages on vendor vehicles asking them not to occupy parking needed by their customers. This comes after months of documented concerns regarding market-related vehicle use and its impacts on the existing commercial corridor.

A 311 service request was also opened during market operations reporting that the emergency fire lane was blocked and identifying the Farmers Market as being in violation of its SFMTA-issued street closure permit. The case remains open.

Our request remains unchanged: relocate the farmers market from the 400 block of Hayes Street to Linden Street, Octavia Boulevard, or another location better suited to recurring market operations.
