Week 12 • Hayes Street Farmers Market Temporary Street Closure Permit No. 1493851

September 9, 2026
Attention SFMTA:

Street conditions for the Hayes Street Farmers Market documented here:
Saturday September 5, 2026

Week 12 again documented the conditions that led us last week to formally request relocation of the Hayes Valley Farmers Market from the 400 block of Hayes Street. Barricades remained unattended, numerous market-related vans and vehicles continued to occupy curb and loading space on and adjacent to the commercial corridor, and the Signature clothing vendor was again selling during farmers market operations. The market itself again operated with a relatively small number of vendors within the larger street closure footprint.

Nothing observed this week changes the conclusion reached after eleven weeks of documentation. The operational demands of this market continue to be transferred onto an existing business corridor through lost customer parking, constrained loading and access, and additional commercial activity. These are not isolated conditions that can reasonably be corrected through minor operational adjustments.

Hayes Street businesses cannot continue to absorb these impacts every Saturday. Our request that SFMTA relocate the farmers market stands, and Week 12 provides further documentation of why relocation is necessary.
